Dancing in the Streets

Once a year our neighborhood likes to throw a huge block party that seems to be inspired by one of Lionel Richie's hit songs. Last year's bash was a lot of fun, and this year's gathering was even better. People were out and the drinks and energy were flowing. At first, Baylor wasn't sure what to make of the insanity. However, he very quickly warmed up to the festival when he realized the fire department was there and eager to let him explore their truck!Jax immediately took on the role of driver. Shocking! The only disappointment was that he couldn't sound the siren. The fire fighters were thisclose to giving Jax the go-ahead, but I insisted they pass on the experience out of fear that my drunken neighbors might not realize it was merely a little fun, not a true emergency. No need to create panic in the streets! While big brother explored the controls up front, Baylor was quite content in the rear of the truck with all the gear. He seemed especially interested in the ax. Good thing it was securely locked down. We might have had a situation on our hands. The Jaguar cheerleaders were on also participating in the evening fun with their Quarterback Challenge booth. The reward for a successful pass? The opportunity to get up close & personal for a photo opp! Jax was shy at first, but eventually warmed up to the girls.Baylor didn't seem all that impressed. He was more excited to meet the Jaguars' mascot, Jaxson! Something tells me it's his age, and in a few short years, I'll be wishing he still lacked an interest in cheerleaders. The rest of the evening was spent in the bounce houses provided by Radio Disney. It wasn't that Anh & I wanted to spend the entire evening watching the boys turn into big, sweaty messes. We just weren't very successful at luring them out of the inflatable fun. Oh well, it was their version of dancing, and it certainly wore them out which made for a relaxing evening at home once they were tucked in their beds for the night. A happy ending for all!
