Crossing the Line

Today, we crossed the line...into Georgia. Anh took the day off and that was the perfect excuse to be spontaneous. Now, before the Georgia family starts thinking, "Hey! They didn't call me when they were in the area!", let me explain that we traveled exactly 1 exit into our neighboring state. Our destination was St. Mary's, the gateway to the Cumberland Island National Seashore.First, we stopped by the Visitor Center. It's small yet impressive, and the boys really enjoyed the educational exhibits. Jax loved that the displays were interactive with buttons to push, and Baylor seemed especially interested in an exhibit that displayed a loggerhead turtle nest, complete with hatchlings. After checking out the map, we decided that it would be best to skip riding the ferry over to the actual island. Sure it would have been fun to explore the camp sites, hiking trails, and seashore, but I made the executive decision that those activities would need to wait for another day...another much cooler day. Go ahead and call me crazy, but I just wasn't able to get excited about the idea of hiking in 100 degree weather!Instead, we asked where the locals head for lunch and sought out that hotspot. Seafood and air conditioning was the perfect combination. After lunch, the boys worked off some energy on the waterfront playground. Even under the shade of the huge oak trees, it was still incredibly hot. Jax and Baylor didn't seem to mind though.Baylor showed that he, like Jax, inherited a bit of the daredevil gene. He charged right up the climbing wall with no hesitation.Look how proud he is of his accomplishment!
Despite the intense heat, we enjoyed our little adventure and are looking forward to the even bigger adventures that await us when we return...in say...January!

Before I even read these comments I was going to say you look SO good in the pictures!

I love the picture of you and the boys on the wooden swing. Anh has some artistic abilities.
