Rewind

It's the start of yet another week, but considering the poor job I did of blogging LAST week, I thought I might press the rewind button on life's imaginary remote control and bring you up to speed on some of the fun that we experienced.

Actually, it was a pretty busy week all things considered. As usual, Anh had a packed week covering both offices, and Jax had school. However, the kids did receive a special visit from a team of paramedics. Not because of an emergency though. The kids are learning about the different types of emergency personnel, and last week was "Paramedic Week."

Mrs. T, Jax's teacher, reported Jax was very quick to inform the paramedics that his dad is a doctor, and he often goes to the hospital with his dad who "fixes people." I'm sure they appreciated that bit of info, Jax! Oh well, clearly, he's proud of his dad. This week, Jax's class will meet a team of firefighters AND have the opportunity to check out their firetruck. I imagine that will be big fun! Good thing the paramedics don't have to follow that act.

Baylor also had a relatively full schedule with 2 play dates. First, he did lunch with Hudson. Lisa and I tagged along too, of course. During future lunch dates, I will need to place Baylor on the opposite side of the table from his guests. Otherwise, Baylor helps himself to anything on their plate. Nice, buddy! You won't get many 2nd dates, if that's how you're going to behave.

Baylor also met up with Ethan and a new friend, Jack, for a little fun in the sun. It has been unseasonably warm here, and we thought that was a good excuse to hit the beach. Not that we ever experience a true Fall in North Florida, but by now, highs are usually in the low to mid-eighties. Last week, we were treated to highs in the 90's, and with the heat index, we were pushing close to 100. Yeah, a trip to the beach was definitely in order.Somewhere in the middle of all that fun, we threw in a little family party for my 33rd birthday! Man, 33! Where is time going?! Anyway, it was a lovely, uneventful mid-week birthday. The boys got me a lovely & delicious cake from a bakery we recently discovered. Let's just say, the diet was thrown out the window for the week. We enjoyed every last bite of that cake! What it lacked in beauty, it definitely made up for with flavor. As you can see from the pictures, Baylor couldn't wait to dive in.
After all of that, factor in some crazy house drama, and I'm sure you can understand how time got away from me. Let's hope I do a better job of time management this week. We don't want to wear out that rewind button.

What Have I Done?!

Yesterday, Baylor and I had friends over to the house for a play date. It was actually our second play date with little Ethan and his mommy, Whitney. However, it was our first time hosting them. Once again, the boys played well together. That is after they starred each other down for about an hour. Plus, at this age, they don't really play together. It's more like they follow each other around. Both seemed happy with the arrangement though. So, we'll say they had fun.

I guess I had fun too because I temporarily lost my mind and agreed to share hosting duties for a weekly play group. I'm sure it will be fun, but the idea of commitment seems a little overwhelming to me now. I don't worry about the social aspect. No, that will fun. I'm dreading the preparation, and by that I mean CLEANING. What have I done?!

Busy, Busy, Busy (Continued)

Sunday was even more action packed. We hugged Aunt Emily good-bye, and then, headed out the door a superbly elaborate 1-year old birthday party. If not for the Disney-themed decor, you might have thought you were at a wedding! Christopher is one lucky boy.

There was a huge Lebanese buffet prepared entirely by the guest of honor's Lebanese grandma. Plus, there was a 2nd buffet specifically for the kids with more traditional party fare. BUT, the edible offering didn't end there! Nope, there was a cake table, a chocolate fountain, AND a coffee bar that was practically a Starbucks. When you add all that to: the theme decor, 2 magician clowns, a pinata, what seemed like hundreds of balloons, endless amounts of candy and party favors, and dozens of children hopped-up on the endless candy, you've got the makings of one CRAZY birthday party! I can't wait to see what they do when he turns 2 or 16!

After that insanity (I mean that in the best possible way.), we met up with Jay, Lisa, and the kids for pizza. Needless to say, we pretty much blew the diet on Sunday. Oh well! You've got to live a little sometimes. Jax was super excited to see Hayden. It's been a while since they've had a chance to play together. Lisa and I have been selfishly planning playdates for Hudson and Baylor while Jax and Hayden are in school. Sometimes it's just easier for mommies to play when there are less children to supervise, and occasionally, mommies deserve a playdate too!

Speaking of playdates, Baylor had another one today. He's got quite the busy schedule these days. His social calendar fills up faster than mine, it seems! Anyway...Today, Baylor met up with 1-year old Ethan, and they had the best time playing together. Not only are they close in age, they are almost the same size, and they have a similar laid back personalities. I think they're a good match. That's a huge plus for the 2 mommies that use them as an excuse to hang out.
